The past two years have been good for us in many ways. With all the restrictions caused by the pandemic, we have spent more time with family than most had experienced prior to the restrictions. Covid restrictions led to us eating more meals with the family at home instead of eating out. One of my favorite things to do each do is EAT, but one of my least favorite places to eat was the places with the buffets. There have many varieties of food, but they all seem to be cooked without any seasoning, so they taste bland. I loved those places where you know the food is going to have taste because of the special seasoning they put in or on the food. I think it’s safe to say that most of what this world has to offer us is bland. It simply has no taste. The way people treat each other is tasteless as well. If the world has lost its taste it’s because the people have become tasteless in their attitudes and actions. Jesus taught us to make a difference in the environment surrounding us. (Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth. But it the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.) You have the opportunity today to flavor the world you live in. You can add God’s light and seasoning to any environment you enter today. You can add flavor to your worship service, work place, home, or social event just by constantly having a Godly attitude. By doing the small things like being thankful, patient, merciful, kind, forgiving, and encouraging. Simply actions like smiling and being friendly can bring flavor to a tasteless society. Spice up your world and watch people embrace the new seasoning. Pastor Don
