We live in such a fast paced world. It seems the day is filled with increasing pressures to meet the next deadline or make the next appointment we have. If we are not careful in trying to keep up with all the exterior pressure put on us, we will leave out the things in our life that are the most important. Things like our family, our health, and even God gets left out of our rushed lives. In the middle of our rushing to meet deadlines and attempting to over-extend ourselves, marriages suffer, family is forsaken, devotion time is omitted, and often stress takes it toll on our bodies. We need to learn to slow down. (Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.) The truth is, we cannot handle life without the help of God, family, friends, and taking care of our bodies. Jesus gave us an invitation to understand how to slow down. He didn’t say he would take away our responsibility as a husband/wife or father/mother, but He did promise to be the one who is able to help us slow down and get some much needed time of restoration. He alone is able to give us strength to handle the responsibility of our jobs, strive to fulfill our dreams, and equip us to stand up under intense pressure. You need a rest-time with God every day of your life. You need a time of restoration, refueling, and re-energizing ourselves by reading the Word of God and prayer. It’s the best rest you will ever find. Pastor Don
