NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU!!

How many people do you know that enjoy talking about themselves all the time. Their conversation is always about their own lives and the things they have done. It’s hard to have healthy relationships when it is all about you. Selfish pride destroys relationships and it shows up in a lot of different ways. Pride can cause you to become critical of others, judgmental, competitive, stubborn and unforgiving. Proverbs tells us that pride leads to destruction. Pride can also be blinding, you only see it in others and never see it in your own life. Humility on the other hand helps us enjoy relationships with others. It causes us to talk about others more than ourselves. (Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.) Humility is when you honor others above yourself, not always demanding or invoking your way. The Bible instructs us to live in harmony, be sympathetic, love each other, have compassion, and to be humble. The reflection of relationships is that we become like the people we spend the most time with. If you are grumpy, you probably spend a lot of time with grumpy people. If you are happy, you probably spend a lot of time around happy people. If you want to show more humility in your relationships, spend more time with Jesus and reading His Word. It is impossible to know true humility without having a relationship with the role model and that is Jesus. When our thoughts, heart, attitudes, and reactions are influenced by the Word of God, humility will show itself in our lives. Life is not always about you, put others first. Pastor Don
