Open Your Eyes

Open Your Eyes

Open your eyes to Jesus’s call. The church has been given a mission and you and I are responsible for seeing that mission to completion.

All four of the gospels recorded the command Jesus gave the church. The church has been given an assignment from God to go tell the world about the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Modern mentality of most church attenders is church is a place for us to gather, share a short time together, and then go tot our individual places until the next gathering. Church is designed to be a place you gather and then go out and be witnesses.

You cannot reach what you cannot see. If we are not careful, church becomes a place where we are so selfish minded that all we pay attention to is our own selfish desires. We become blind to what our responsibility is in fulfilling the great commission. We are ok as long as we don’t see. Open your eyes.

John 4:35

I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

If we are going to make an impact in this dark world we are going to have to see things outside ourselves. We are going to have to see fields that are ripe and ready to harvest. Jesus also said we are spiritually near sighted. If all your prayers were answered, would it change the world around you or just change you?

Open Your Eyes To Where People Are

If your eyes are open, God will guide your steps. I believe God has divine appointments for all of us to be used for His glory. When you see people where they are, your eyes are opened to see them as God sees them. You have to connect with them before you can correct them.

Psalm 37:23

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

Proverbs 16:9

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

Open Your Eyes To Who People Are

It’s easy these days to be mad at people. Society teaches us that to be my friend you have to love who I love and hate who I hate. To be a light for Jesus, our eyes have to be opened to see people for who they are; a soul for whom Jesus died.

Matthew 9:36

When He saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep with our a shepherd.

Open Your Eyes To What People Need

There are two groups that make up the church. There’s a truth side and a grace side. The truth side tells them that if they don’t get saved they are going to hell. That is true, but the side preaching only truth is not reaching anyone.

The grace side tells them Jesus loves you, He has paid the price for all your sins, it’s all free. All of this is true, but if this is the only message your method is not effective.

Truth without grace is mean.

Grace without truth is meaningless.

Put them together and you have ineffective way to reach people for Christ.

John 1:14

The word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only son, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.

In the story of the adulterous woman, Jesus first told her she had no accusers and neither did He accuse her. He showed her grace. Then, He told her to sin no more. He told her the truth of serving Him. His unconditional love came first before He taught her the truth.
