One of the biggest mistakes my generation has made is forgetting how much our actions and decisions would influence the people around us. Every decision we are faced with making daily could have a positive or a devastating effect on the people around us. The first thing we need to ask ourselves before making a decision is, Will my choice influence or do harm to the people who are following my steps? (Romans 14:12-13 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. 13.Therefore let us stop passing judgement on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.) Our society teaches us to do just the opposite. Society teaches us to think of ourselves only and not look at those who see the choices we make. When we call in sick from work and we actually are going to have a pleasure day for ourselves. We teach others that honesty doesn’t really count for much. When we bring things from work to use for personal use at home. We teach others that it’s alright to steal or take things without permission. When you cheat on your taxes, then brag about ripping off Uncle Sam, you teach others that it’s alright to do others anyway you want to. When we disrespect an officer who wrote you a ticket for speeding, because you were speeding, you teach others that disrespecting authority is okay. God says that one day we will give an account for the way our actions and decisions have influenced and affected others. Think before you make decisions.
