GROWING UP TAKES TIME!!

JULY 28th…GROWING UP TAKES TIME!! Yesterday’s devotion raised a question. Why does it take so long to grow up? We all have met people who we think needs to grow up because they are acting much younger than their age should act. A plant takes several weeks growing before it begins to produce fruit. Why does it take so long to change and grow up? I think there are a couple reasons and we all must be patient with ourselves and with those around us to allow time to mature. The Bible tells us these things take time. (Colossians 3:7-10 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices. 10 And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.) Growing takes time and effort on our part. We are grow at different speeds for different reasons. Some are slow learners. Some often have to go through the same tests many times before they learn from it. We also have a lot to unlearn when we start living this spiritual led life. Up until now most everything we have done was against what God wants us to become so unlearning some of those habits takes time. Lastly, good habits take time to develop. You are a sum of your habits. Your habits define your character. You are what you repeatedly practice and do. Be patient with yourself and with others, we will all become what God wants us to be if we don’t stop growing. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
