The secret to change is not willpower. The secret is to know the truth and to face the truth. If you ever make a lasting change in your life it will be because you know the truth and deal with the truth in your life, your relationships, and in your daily walk. Paul teaches us the only way to find and face the truth in our lives is to find it in JESUS CHRIST. (Ephesians 4:20-24 That, however, is not the way of life you learned, 21. When you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.) You have to know the truth about your weaknesses, your inabilities, your relationships, your successes and failures, and your past and your future. Your life will not change until you find the truth that is found in God and His Word. Why do you need to know the truth in order to make a lasting change? Because, behind every self-defeating habit in our lives is a lie that you and I have bought into. In our finances, we often believe the lie that we can always pay it back, we need something bigger or better, or that God wants me to enjoy this new perk. Make certain where your desires are coming from before you spend. What about your relationships, your past, or even your future? Is it the truth that lines up with God’s Word about our lives or is it selfish lies that we are believing as the truth. Just because others are doing it, or it is the “IN” thing right now, doesn’t make it right for you. You can always trust the Bible to tell you the truth. What people write in books or broadcast on TV is not always the truth. That is why it is so important for you and I to spend time reading the Bible and praying everyday. Changes in our lives requires us to learn the truth and live by it. Nothing in our lives will change until we get the truth rooted in our hearts. When you face the truth and respond to it, you will begin to see big changes in our lives. Pastor Don
