What do you focus on? I hear a lot of people who focus on the bad, their failures, the things they don’t do well, and other weaknesses. I am amazed how often, after playing a round of golf, we only focus on the things we do poorly. We seldom talk about all the good things we did in the round. My devotion this morning spoke right to this matter. A minister was interviewed and asked what was his weaknesses. His response caught my attention. He replied, “I don’t concentrate on them. I am sure I have some, but I couldn’t tell you right now what they are because I don’t focus on them.” We could all learn from this response. (Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.) If we focus on the things we do poorly, then our day is filled with negativism and failure. If we could change our focus to only dwell on the things we do well, then our day would be filled with joy and victory. Satan loves to point out all our short-comings. He loved to tell us what failures we are. God wants us to focus on the good things in our lives. The devotional verse this morning directs our focus to positive things in our lives. Direct your focus on the things you, as well as those around you, do well today and your day will brighten up quickly. Your focus soon becomes your reality. Pastor Don
