YOU MATURE THROUGH EXPERIENCE, NOT AGE!!

Most people could not wait until they became adults so they would not have to listen to people telling them what to do. They have lived their whole childhood being told what to do and what not to do. They just could not wait to start making decisions on their own. THEN, when the years had arrived and we started having to make those decisions on our own, we learned that our parents were a lot smarter than we realized. We realized the value of wisdom. Doing what we want to do will work until we make a foolish decision and have to pay for our actions. Then, we realize the value of the information people have been sharing with us growing up. We realize we need that kind of wisdom that directs our lives in right paths and helps us make right decisions. (James 3:17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.) Adults are often defensive of suggestions to change the way we do things. We are so sensitive about our decisions and lifestyle that we can become angered by those who have differing opinions. Personal suggestions should never be taken as a criticism and we should not be defensive. We can learn from anybody. Wise people are open people, they are not defensive. They are willing to listen and learn. The word wisdom in James 3:17 means reasonable, willing to listen, and open to ideas and suggestions. (Proverbs 12:15 The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.) When someone shares information and advice with you today, you can be open and receive it or you can get offended and dismiss it. Your actions will tell a lot about your maturity. Wisdom is a gift given us through other’s experiences. Receive their gift with gratitude. Pastor Don
