We all want to follow God and we have all said “I want more of God”. The statements require action behind the words. Our greatest question is “What are we going to do with Jesus”? But what does is mean to follow hard after Jesus. Jesus said “follow me” thirteen times in the Gospels. With these two words he called Peter, Andrew, James, John, and Matthew. He was calling them to follow Him with everything they had, holding nothing back. God calls us to follow wholeheartedly in our devotion, service, obedience, and pursuit of Him. We have never been called to a casual following of God. The call to follow hard is to be fully invested insetting first God’s kingdom and his righteousness.

Psalm 63:8
My soul followers hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

To cling to God is to hold onto Him for all you’re worth, especially in the dark times, whether you’re in a dark valley or experiencing a dark Noah to fate soul. It’s refusing to let go of Him irrespective of what’s happening in our life or what’s coming against you. It’s always our choice, but if we’re going to follow hard after him, it’s going to necessitate our staying close to Him and holding fast to Him.

Ephesians 5:1
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

If we’re followers, God is our leader. God leads and where He leads He feeds. He is a God that goes before us. He leads us by His Spirit, His word, His will, His purpose. If God is your leader and you’re following, He is taking you to a wonderful place.

Matthew 7:14
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
