There is Blessing in Release

There will be times in our life we can claim the blessings of God and still feel distressed about situations in the present. We are unable to see what God is doing out of our view. There is blessing in release to God.

The rights of the first born are very prominent in the Old Testament. Esau was the older brother to Jacob. He was a hunter and favored by his father. When the time came for Isaac to bestow the family blessing onto Esau, their mother Rebecca schemed with Jacob to trick Isaac and Jacob received the blessing, the family inheritance. When Esau realized what had taken place he threatened to kill Jacob. Jacob ran from home and met an angel in the wilderness. The angel told Jacob he would be given the promise made to his fathers Abraham and Isaac.

Genesis 32:7-8

Jacob became very blessed in earthly goods. But he was at times in his life greatly distressed. There will be times in our life we can claim the blessings of God and still feel distressed about situations in the present. We are unable to see what God is doing out of our view.

Jacob tried to take charge and make plans to protect his physical blessings. He was making plans for a battle that never took place. God had already worked out the situation that had Jacob so distressed.

Genesis 32:9-15

Jacob called out to God after making his own plans to protect his prosperity and the promise given him by God to Abraham and Isaac. He prayed protection from calamity after making his own plans. He offered great gifts to protect his life and that of those under his care. He found himself releasing worldly blessings. There is a blessing attached to release of what distresses us.

We have to give God a chance to do what He is going to do. Waiting on God can be the hardest thing to do in the Christian life. In due season God will bring about what He said He would. Paul said he took joy in affliction. He was willing to suffer the wait in order to see the promises of God fulfilled.

There is blessing in release. (Genesis 35:1-3)

First get up.

Return to your faith.

Release your past.

Put on righteousness.

Honor God.
