SUMMER SLUMP?? GET GOING AGAIN!!

Summer of 2020 has been unlike any other summer I have ever lived. The pandemic along with all its restrictions has changed it completely. One more reason for many to experience a summer slump. Summer seems to be the time that we allow other distractions to cause us to break our routine of going to church, doing daily devotion, or maintaining consistency in our walk with God. There may be many contributing factors to experiencing a summer slump. Children are out of school, days are longer, in much of the world it is hot outside, and most of our vacations and ventures take place in the summer months. It is easy to allow other things to cause us to miss out on our intimacy with God. God encourages us to maintain our daily walk and devotion with Him. (Romans 12:11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.) There are a few reminders that help keep me devoted to a daily walk with God. I remind myself just how blessed I am. When I begin to count my blessings, I am amazed at the goodness of God in my life. That helps stir me up and makes life much brighter. Expecting great things from God also helps keep me energized to do more for him each day. It motivates me to get out of the bed each morning with anticipation of my devotion time with Him. The other thing I do is to get my mind off me, how I feel, what’s going on in my life, and look at those around me. If I look to do something for someone else and not be selfish minded, I have renewed enthusiasm to do what God has purposed my life to be. Get up and get going. Get out of that summer slump. Find a renewed purpose for your life today. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
