The life we live each day reveals who we are. Our true identity is revealed by the life we live. I went into one of the most popular stores to make a purchase with my debit card and the cashier asked for my drivers license for identification. They wanted to verify that the name on my debit card belonged to me by looking at a picture on my license. They discovered that I was who I was supposed to be. My Bible reading this morning talked about our identity in Jesus Christ. When people see our true identity, they need to see Jesus in us. (Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.) The world is tired of make believe imposters, they are seeking for someone who is real, genuine, and believable. They are looking for the real deal. The only way for us to be the real deal for God is to know who we are in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us we are the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:7 tell us we are forgiven of all our sins. 1 John 5:18 says we are born of God and the evil one does not touch me. Romans 8:37 tells us that we are a conqueror through Him who loves me. It is important that we know who we are so the world can find and know Jesus through us. You are no longer identified by your past, your level of education, your mistakes, or the friends you have. You are not identified by the things you have done, or the things that have been done to you. You are identified by what God has done for us and in us. It’s who you are! It’s what you are!
