HERE?? or ABSENT??

In my school days, the teacher in a class would call roll every day to see who was present and who didn’t show. When you name was called you simply answered “here.” The response meant I am here again today to further my education. I’m ready to learn things that I didn’t know yesterday. There may have been other things that I would have enjoyed doing that day, but I found my place where I needed to be. I wonder where we would be on certain days if God were to call roll for His children. Would we be where we need to be to further our learning process of what God wants us to become? (Hebrews 12:2-3 Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.) Walking with Christ is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a day by day race that only our faith overcomes the temptation to do other things. People often start fast, then fall away as life offers other interests. The “absent” days start with just one every now and then, but end with more “absents” than “presents” if we are not careful. We never intend for life to work out that way, Satan just increases the temptations once we have given in to the first. Listen for the roll call this morning. Are you where you need to be to learn today’s lessons or are you out of place to hear what the teacher is saying? Whether you are “HERE” or “ABSENT” will determine the quality of your day.
