God in the House
The throne of God should be in our homes present in our lives, in our marriages, to our children. The blessings of God follow where His presence is allowed. Evil will have to leave where the presence of God lives.
2 Samuel 6:1-12
There is a difference in those where God has taken up residence. We understand that He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world. There is a difference in the people of God. God Himself lives in us. But do we believe that God is almighty in us and in our homes? We need God in the house.
In Exodus 25, God instructed Moses to construct an ark to symbolize His presence. It was made of a durable wood and overlaid with gold. It represented an opportunity to return to peace and fellowship with God after Adam and Eve broke their covenant with Him. God made provision through the shedding of blood at the ark and then sent His Son to shed His blood. This provided a final atonement for all people.
The ark was designed to be on the move. When I can’t seem to find the presence of God, God will come to me. The glory of the Lord will scatter my enemies. The presence of God will break chains and addictions. It will set the people of God free. We are the people of God and the enemy recognizes the presence of God and will flee.
The ark represented within it God’s provision in a bag of manna from the wilderness. It represented God’s promise in the rod Moses used by God’s power. And the ark represented God’s prescription for right living with the tablets of stone with God’s law.
These items represent God’s manner of being present with us. We must not treat the presence of God like a trinket or charm only. Going through the motions of praise only when we need God will not draw the presence to us. His presence must be carried with us in all circumstances. We must live that His presence is seen by everyone we encounter. Proclaiming that high and lifted up is the name of the Lord. Leave behind anything that hasn’t been ordained by God.
Ignoring the word of the Lord will bring separation and despair. Mistakes will be made. Wandering will happen. The spirit of compromise will bring confusion. There is life and safe direction in the church. If we carry the word of God with us into the world, there will be people anxious to accept it.
God’s provision and promise and prescription of life for how to live can be in our house. We need God in our house. We have to make room for God and His presence. Call on God to set up place in your house.
