Hands Full Of Trouble

Job tells us that our days are full and full of trouble (Job 14:1). We can walk through the days of our lives and find trouble everywhere. We can try our best to live right and still find trouble. Do not despair in trouble because the Lord hears us and will save us from our trouble. Your trouble does not change your God.

What’s next?

Do you ever ask yourself what’s next? We ask ourselves that question but we dread the answer.

The Trouble of Sennacherib

Isaiah 36: 1
Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defensed cities of Judah, and took them.

This is the Sennacherib that came against the 46 defense cities. The enemy will not be satisfied until it has everything. We may fall, but we don’t need to go down without a fight.

Isaiah 36:18
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the Lord will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

The enemy will tell you not to listen to the preacher and not to listen to God’s word. The enemy will distort God’s word. The devil is a liar. We have to trust in the living God and his word.

Isaiah 37:3
And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

Your deliverance may be about to be birthed. You need to stand firm and believe God for it.

Isaiah 38:1-2
In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord.

What days?

The days of the attack of the enemy. Some translations say that Hezekiah became sick. Is the possible that the stressed triggered something in his body? Could it be that he worried himself sick?

There is a solution

Isaiah 37: 15-17
And Hezekiah prayed unto the Lord, saying, 16 O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.17 Incline thine ear, O Lord, and hear; open thine eyes, O Lord, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.

Praying to the Lord is the solution. Hezekiah prayed to Yahweh. He prayed to the Lord who keeps his promises. He prayed to the merciful Lord. Hezekiah told God that His reputation was on the line and Hezekiah asked God what he was going to do about it.

Isaiah 37:35
For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

God is going to deliver you and bless you for His name’s sake.

Don’t stop praying

Isaiah 38:2-6
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord,And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

We have seen two difference occasions where Hezekiah prayed when he was faced with trouble. Don’t stop praying. God will defend what is His.
