Life would be so much easier if we could get out of our problems instead of having to work through them. Most of the prayers are spent asking God for things, “I want this, God,” or “Get me out of that, God.” We spent so much of our prayer time asking God to help us out with problems. We need physical healing, financial help, restoration of relationships, or even a promotion at work are things we are quick to take to God. An intimate relationship with God extends beyond asking Him for things, it includes trusting Him when He decides not to get you out, but rather to get you through your situation. David spoke of God’s ability to get us through in my Bible reading this morning. (Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.) We must learn to trust God to get us through the valley. We must trust Him through the process. There is something to be learned in everything life brings our way. Though it would be easier sometimes to opt out, it is necessary for us to walk through our valleys. When we know God is with us, we can go through trials with stability, positive attitudes, trusting God completely, even when the odds seem to be against us. You and God will always come out winners.
