DON’T FOLLOW YOUR EMOTIONS!!

How many times have you heard someone say, I should have followed my instinct, or, my gut feeling told me to do or not to do something? It is amazing how often we think that our emotions are right. The definition of emotions is, a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationship with others. Our emotions are formed by the situation we are facing at the moment and are subject to change as our environment changes. You can not trust or depend on your emotions because they will often lead you wrong. God tells us the importance of watching our emotions carefully. Not everything you feel is right. People often rationalize their actions based on their situation and self-approve what they do. We need to be very cautious about self-approving our actions. (Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.) Many friendships have died, many marriages killed, many relationships destroyed, simply because people trusted their emotions instead of trusting God with their decisions. If you don’t learn to control your emotions, they will control you. You will find yourself being manipulated into a different set of feelings every time your mood changes. (Romans 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.) You need to find your happy place in God, even during earthly situational changes. It is important to control your emotions to live and enjoy your life daily. This is a verse that needs to be our motto for life since we met the Lord as our Savior. (1 Peter 4:2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.) Watch your emotions, they can lead you astray. Pastor Don
