BREAK THE CHAINS!!

I can’t count the times that I have heard people say, “When I get over this, I’m going to live closer to God.” Too often, when the scare was over, the health was recovered, or the struggle had been resolved, they resort back to their old lifestyles. I believe they meant it when they said they intended to do better, but it is difficult to break old habits. People have quit addictions for a while, only to take them back up. Old habits are difficult to break. People have started church or get closer to God as a New Year’s resolution and will soon resort back to their old ways if they are not careful. Keeping resolutions and breaking our old habits is a process. We have to decide to stand firm daily on our commitments. (1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.) Habits are behavior traits that we often do unconsciously and breaking them requires us to make a conscious effort to do differently. It is a constant battle to replace our old ways with new ways and the struggle is real. Anything worth obtaining in life requires effort on our part. With God’s help, a determined attitude, and an awareness of the harmful effects of our old habits, we can break the hold old habits have on us. Once you are free, STAY FREE! You can break those old habits. Keep working on it today. Pastor Don
