WORDS!! THEY SET THE TONE!!

In the words of a childhood song we often sang, it said, “Be careful little ears what you hear, be careful little eyes what you see, and be careful little mouth what you say.” I haven’t thought of that childhood song in many years before this morning, but it is still important what we allow ourselves to see, speak, and hear. The words we speak can set or change the setting we are living in this morning. How many times have you said or heard others say, “I hate to do this?” It may refer to work, going to the grocery store, cutting grass, paying bills, cleaning the house, or driving to work, etc. The tone in which we enter a situation either makes our task harder of easier to do. (Ephesians 5:4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.) Make a change today. Start saying, “By faith I am going to enjoy what I am about to do.” Even the most difficult things will become easier to accomplish if you include thanksgiving with your approach. We have the ability to set the tone for our day and the duties of today by using words of praise and thanksgiving instead of doom and gloom. We can talk ourselves into and out of things. Talk yourself into a good attitude and speak good words about what you are about to pursue and it will become a lot more pleasant task. Words set the tone for your day. Use them wisely.
