THINK?? IS IT WORTH IT??

I read a story this morning of a man who was offered a promotion that included a big pay raise and a rise in prestige with his company. The man turned the position down. Although he had a house to pay for, children to raise, and could have used the extra money, he said no to the offer. His wife was angry and asked him why he didn’t want to take the position. He answered her with this explanation. “I have watched other men who took that position. They have to travel extensively, saddled with meeting unreasonable deadlines, and lived under constant stress. It is not worth what it takes out of your life for the little amount of money and position it offers.” I thought about his answer this morning and I wonder how many people are living miserable lives today just because they took on a position, or other things just to climb the ladder of success. We need to think about every offer that comes our way and evaluate it’s full impact on our life and the lives of those around us. (John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.) It may not be worth it. So many people are so tied to their jobs requirements that they don’t have time to meet the needs of their spouse, children, and home. The corporate ladder has been the downfall of many relationships and has children being left to be raised by one parent. Church members have over-extended themselves to the point that everything they do is work instead of worship. Anger towards others has replaced the joy of serving God. Before you take an offer or volunteer for a position that looks like it will put you in the limelight, ask yourself, is it worth it? The easiest way for Satan to destroy your life is to cause you to over-extend yourself. When the joy of life is gone, Satan is happy. Saying “NO” is not the worst thing you can do today. Find the place God wants you and be happy serving there. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
