The Joy of the Father
Refuse to live in the house of the foolish. Follow the call of the King of Kings and take somebody with you.
It should be our joy to bring our Father blessing. The task of the believer that we want to bring our Father joy. He delights in those who are His. He loves us. It should be the driving force of all of us to please our Father. There was a man named Enoch that walked with God. He had a testimony that he pleased God. He is pleased with those who love Him and live in obedience.
There is a woman that was an outstanding woman with great character. Her name means “she brings joy to her father”. She is Abigail, one of King David’s wives. Her father named her at birth because his joy bubbled over. We can be an Abigail to today’s generation.
1 Samuel 25:2,3,8,10,13,20,23,24,25,28,35
Abigail brought joy because she knows how to save a fool. She was married to a fool who did not appreciate her. However, Abigail was wise and had a beautiful countenance. She had boldness and stood between what the enemy was attempting and what God was accomplishing. Be careful not to join yourself with a fool. You will be fruitless while joined with fools. It will keep you from your call of God. God can free us from a foolish life. Jesus is the intercessor for us and assigns people like Abigail to stand in prayer for us. She, like Jesus, takes on our iniquities.
1 Samuel 25:28,29
Abigail brought joy because she saves a king. She acted as an encourager to David. God has a purpose for us and taking the path with fools delays God’s promises. We are bound up with God. We are under God’s guard and the enemy cannot win. The enemy can’t find us because we are in the protection of God’s hand. Abigail told David that God would handle his enemies. God raised up Abigail to encourage David to let God handle his enemies.
1 Samuel 25:36,37,38,39,40,41,42
Abigail’s joy saved her by answering the call of the king. Her boldness and encouragement and wisdom brought her great joy and promise for a life as the wife of a king. We can trade all that the world has to offer for the great treasures offered by the King of Kings. God has brought us out of the house of foolishness and are called to bring others with us into the house of the King.
