Today’s society through media in all forms depict men as either silly boys or idiots. Masculinity and manhood are being attacked or at least there is an attempt to redefine its role. The fact is manhood matters. Father’s matter and masculinity makes the difference.

The father is the child’s first image of what they see of God. Men need to be encouraged to fill the role God designed for them and be the Godly influence God wants us to be. Fathers need healthy relationships with their children. It is a necessity that fathers fill the role God has called them to do.

Godly dads devote their families to the Lord.

The struggle for most fathers in today’s society in trying to fit into too many molds. It’s becoming more and more unpopular to be the father that devotes their family to God. Father’s shouldn’t be ashamed to be recognize as a an who loves God.

Joshua 24:14-15
14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness.Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Godly dads discipline those he loves.

Our present society displays a generation who was raised without discipline. Our schools are full of children who disrespect those trying to teach them because they were not disciplined. Disciplining our children should line up with God’s word.

Hebrews 12:6-7
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,

and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a]

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Godly dads demonstrate how to follow Jesus.

We are seeing children trying to figure out life with no father figure in their life and it isn’t going very well for them. Influenced by their peers, media, professors. Let’s make a difference in the ones God has placed under our watch.

1 Corinthians 4:15-16
15 Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you to imitate me.

Godly fathers delight in their children.

God delights in His children. God wants to talk with you. God wants to spend time with you. God wants to bless you and forgive you. Our children need to know that we love them. Know that we want to spend time with them. Know that you are praying with them. Our children need to know they are always welcome at the father’s house.

1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Godly fathers can leave a legacy that will be a blessing for generations.
