The Foundation of the Church

The Foundation of the Church

People like to say what the church use to be. God is not a use to be God. He is the same God and our foundation must be built upon Him.

We have been made brand new creatures through the Lord Jesus Christ. God’s church has not changed. It has not changed because God has not changed. Jesus said you must be born again and that requirement has not changed. God is still able to do abundantly what is needed. He is the same today, tomorrow, and forever.

Jesus’s death on the cross leveled the playing field for those who believe. All who believe can receive the inheritance to God’s children.

Ephesians 2:19-22

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

A building its only as good as its foundation despite the outward appearance. Our foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ and His word. As long as the church holds to Jesus and His word we will be victorious. We are not concerned with the report of the world. Our foundation is in Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:11

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

As members of the body of Christ we can trust God to give us the strength to fight the fight of this day. No one is exempt of the world’s troubles. Earthquakes shake the foundation of our earth as we continue to abuse our planet. Man continues to seek pleasures at the expense of the Earth.

Jesus freely gave Himself for us. The earthquake at His death lifted the separation between us and God. No longer was it necessary for a priest to go into the presence of God for us. We have been given the liberty to approach God broadly for mercy and grace in our circumstances. We have been given the liberty to call upon God for our needs.

It is inevitable that we will be confronted with situations beyond our control. We must take measures to prepare of the impending spiritual storms. The foundation of our prayer life will make the difference. Scriptures are record of miracles and wonders of God. It is recorded that saints of that day would pray without ceasing. God said call upon me and I will show you things you cannot imagine. Pray is powerful. It has not diminished in strength.

Jesus is the rock of our foundation. There is none that can stand against Him. The church has stood against much persecution. We, the church, must continue to stand on the foundation of Jesus, our rock. The word of God is part of our foundation. God’s word will give us strength to stand. We need to seek His word and pray “not my will but Yours”.

Today’s leaders are distracted from the will of God. It is imperative that all institutions of our countries and people turn to the word of God. Through the inspired word of God, the life and death of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit we can have joy unspeakable through the perilous times of today’s world.

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

God, against all that makes sense to our thinking, can, will, and has defied all reason and has rescued His people time and time again. The word records multiple accounts of His power and redeeming love. Today’s world can’t explain the works of God and deny Him. We, as His faithful, don’t need explanation. We serve a God full of mercy and grace.
