Timothy found himself discouraged and ready to give up. Paul encouraged him with principles we can use when we face unexpected moments when life does not give us what we want. Paul told Timothy what priorities he should have in the hard times.

*2 Timothy 2:1-4

We, the church, are a family. We must teach what we know about Jesus Christ. Good leaders know the Word and teach it. We are teachers and soldiers that must endure hardness.

Hardness in the New Testament means to “take one’s share of ill treatment” or “bear evil treatment along with”.

It’s okay to not be okay; especially in the presence of God. This life can be hard. But you must appeal to Jesus for mercy. Don’t give up. The Prince of Life has destroyed the powers of darkness!

The disappointments, circumstances, and worries of this world must not distract us. We can love Him in hard times. We can serve Him in hard times. God can be found in the hard times.

Genesis 28:12-15
12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.13 There above it  stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.  15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

*2 Timothy 2:1-4
1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4No man that warmth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
