The spare tire is one of the most under appreciated parts of our automobiles, but it is also one of the most important. The thing about a spare tire is that you never know when you are going to need it. It could be in the morning, at lunch time, in the afternoon, or in the middle of the night. Have you ever needed your spare tire only to find out you haven’t checked on it in so long that it is also in need of being aired up? Our prayer life is often an unused, unappreciated, and yet a vitally important part of a Christians life. It is so important that we understand the importance of having the privilege of prayer. Prayer is often one of the most unappreciated treasures. We are encouraged to pray without ceasing. Pray one for another. Ask for our needs for the day and be thankful for all of our blessings. (Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.) Prayer is not something we should put off to a more convenient time or a special place. We should pray at all times, in every season, with all kinds of prayers, and it routinely. Prayer need not be long to be effective. It is the greatest privilege we have, and it releases the greatest power on earth. We all need God’s help, and we get it by asking for it.
