I heard the story about an area of our country known as “Death Valley.” The valley is known to be a place where there is little to no life. The ground is barren and the dirt seems incapable of producing any form of plant life. But, something unusual happened in 2004, Death Valley received almost 7 inches of rain. The valley showed no immediate change when the rain fell, but, in the spring of 2005 plant life sprang up all over the valley. It wasn’t that the valley did not hold the potential to grow life, it was that the valley had not received the rain it needed to show it’s potential. Each one of us was created by God with potential. (Ezekiel 47:9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because the water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.) Life is sustained by water. Life is abundant where water is available. Our lives can flourish as designed when the Water of the Word and the Spirit of God flows in our lives. The only way to reach our potential is to saturate our lives with God’s Word and allow the Holy Spirit to direct us. You have potential. You have a level you have never reached before.
