This morning I want to do a follow up to yesterday’s devotion on showing grace to others. The statement that many people make is, “You don’t know what they have done to me!” Another statement is, “You don’t know how much they hurt me!” Or, “Why should I show grace to someone who thinks nothing about me?” A common statement, that is so true, is “I will never forget what they have done to me!” We are not able to forget the things that have happened to us in life, but, we must be able to forgive others in order for us to be forgiven according to the Bible. (Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.) Revenge will destroy you. Life’s law is the law of sowing and reaping. If you don’t forgive, God will not forgive you. If you don’t forgive others it turns into bitterness. There is nothing worse than living in a state of bitterness. Nothing will ever be right when you live with bitterness in your heart. Constantly judging others for what they have done does nothing but destroy your joy. Maybe you have problems forgiving others because you have never asked for forgiveness yourself for your sins. God is listening for your prayer this morning.
