There is a phrase, “Things are looking up now”, you hear people say when their circumstances and situation is improving. Problems are decreasing and opportunities are increasing. The Gift of Christmas made it possible for things to start looking up in our lives. The shepherds’ lives changed when they started looking up to the heaven to hear the angels speak. The wise men were never the same after they looked up to the heavens and say the star that led them to Jesus. One of my favorite Psalms talks about looking up and seeing God’s handiwork. (Psalm 8:3,4,9 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4. What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them.? 9. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!) We can all learn a lesson from this Psalm. Regardless of what you are facing this Christmas, your situation will change when you start looking up. The Bible tells us over and over to “Lift up your eyes.” God said it to Moses. God said it to Abraham. Jesus said it to all His followers. If you want your circumstances to change, you have to know that looking up is the only sure help for your need. There is an old rhyme that says, “Two men looked out from prison bars. One saw mud, the other saw stars.” That pretty much sums up the world we live in today. Some are looking down in despair over their situation. Others are looking up in hope that God will change their situation. Let the Gift of Christmas be the place you look for help today. You will find what you are looking for when you look up. When you see how BIG your God is, the size of your problems will diminish. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
