Justice and Joy
The day of the Lord is a day of justice and joy. It delivers God’s wrath and carries His compassion. We can be hidden in His compassion.
We’re living in perilous times. We have no better defense against the wickedness of this world than the word of God in the Bible. Though God is a God of justice, He finds great joy in us. He knows all about us and chooses to pursue us. God will hide us in His protection.
Zephaniah was a prophet whose name means hidden. God protected him during a dangerous time in Israel and Judah. God gave Zephaniah the message of His justice for the wickedness of His people. Jesus preached that He came to bring peace to us. We can experience His peace in spite of the persecution of Christians and God’s ordinances today.
God told Zephaniah to call people to seek Him. God promised we would be hid in the day of His judgement on the earth. We are promised the Holy Ghost as our guide and comfort. He will help us discern the truth. His wisdom will guide us. He available at all times. We can rejoice in Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
When judgement is being given out, we can be hidden in Him. God has made us worthy of His protection and to escape all His judgment. The day of the Lord will come. But we are free from guilt and condemnation. We are free from the law of sin.
We cannot evaluate spiritual things through carnal means. Our carnal eyes cannot to see the spiritual riches given to us. Jesus left the wealth of heaven to come into poverty to make us rich in the goodness of God. We are rich in grace and power.
God does not want anyone to perish. He is patient and wants all to be with Him in paradise. God delights and rejoices in us.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Zephaniah 3:17
He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
