Hearing From God
God loves to speak. He isn’t silent. He isn’t distant. He longs for you to live with the knowledge of His love and perfect will.
You and I have been given the invaluable gift of communication with God. Too many Christians think God n longer talks to His children. The Bible tells us over and over how God love to communicate with His children.
Jeremiah 33:3
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
Often we don’t know what to say or even feel qualified to speak to Him. God knows what we need when we don’t know how to ask. God has made us His own and we are always welcome to bring our problems and desires to Him.
John 10:3-5
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
Why don’t we hear from God? Satan has weapons of mass distraction.
Busyness
Psalm 46:10
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Competing voices
Luke 14:18-20
18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’
19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’
20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
Unprepared heart

19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.
How do we hear from God?
Read His word
The Bible is one of our greatest gifts as a Christian. It is the very word of God. It is alive and active. If you don’t want to stumble over what the devil puts in the dark, plug into the Bible.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Cultivate our relationship with Him
God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden. Jesus cane to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins that we again might have the opportunity to have God walk with us here on earth. He sent the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts, walk with us daily, and to speak God’s truth into our life.
Get planted in a Bible-based church
One of the best places to hear from God is a Bible-based church. Church is a great place to learn how to connect with God.
Psalm 92:12-13
12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
