AUGUST 1st…HAPPINESS IS GIVING, NOT GETTING!! Most people think they would be happy if they had the things they want, but as soon as they obtain those things other things come to mind. They are never happy with what they have. Jesus taught us a valuable lesson in Philippians about where happiness comes from. Happiness comes through harmony, and harmony comes through humility. Jesus taught us to be humble rather than be difficult, bitter, resentful, or jealous of others. (Philippians 2:6-8 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his advantage; 7. rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross!) The bracelets people wore a few years back asked what would Jesus do? You need to ask yourself in every situation what he would do. Verse 6 tells us that Jesus would not demand what he thinks he deserves. Verse 7 tells us Jesus would look for ways to serve others rather than be served. Verse 8 tells us Jesus would do what’s right even when it is painful on our part. Jesus found happiness in life comes from being in harmony with God and with those around him. Being in harmony with God brought happiness in life. So in our desire to be happy in this life let’s follow the example set for us by Jesus. Then we will know what true happiness is. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
