GOOD HABITS!! YOU FORM THEM!!

Good intentions often lack the willpower it takes to have them continue on a regular basis. I watched a commercial that said a person could become dependent on opioids in as little as 5 days. That is a short amount of time for a habit to form in our life. I wish all of our good habits could begin and stick with us in as short a time as 5 days. Most of our New Year’s resolutions are based on starting good habits or breaking bad ones. We want to start a good habit of eating better, exercising more, going to church, being a good companion, parent, or child, and so many more. We have a great example to follow in developing those good habits, it is Jesus. (Luke 22:39-41 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40. On reaching the place, he said to them, Pray that you will not fall into temptation. 41. He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed.) It has been said that if you do something consistently for 30 days, it will become a habit. It takes time for a habit to take hold in our lives. We often do something for a day of two, then revert back to our old ways of doing things. Several of our local churches are beginning 21 days of prayer and fasting. It is a time to break old habits and begin new ones. One of the habits Jesus formed in His life was to communicate with God every day. If starting his day with prayer and communication with God was important to Jesus, it should be important to us. It takes 15 minutes to read a devotion, prayer, and ask God to direct your life today.
