We often name drop if it makes us sound more important to the people we are talking with. I was asked this week if I knew a golfer in our area. I responded, “Yes, I know him.” I had to retract that statement and simply say I knew his name. I had seen his name on leaderboards and I had seen his picture in social media, but I did not know him personally. A lot of people speak of God in the same manner. They know about God, but they do not know him. There is a big difference in knowing God and knowing about God. When we truly know God, we also have experienced His power. (Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;) When we have a true knowledge of God, we are not disturbed by any scientific views, theories of evolution, or any of the attacks on the Bible. When you truly know God, you have the assurance of who God is, and knowing that, nothing can shake the foundation of your faith. You can learn to trust Him more each day.
