It’s Father’s Day – the day chosen to celebrate Fathers. It is a day filled with many emotions. Some feel great this morning and can’t wait to tell their father Happy Father’s Day. Others will wake this morning with feelings of hurt, anger, and abandonment, because their dad is not or has not been a part of their life. Whatever the role your dad presently plays, or has played in your life, they are very influential in your relationship with God. We have to forgive others to have the relationship with God that is planned for your life. (Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive other people wheny they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.) Whether your thoughts this morning were of your earthly father or not, the first thoughts on God’s mind this morning was YOU. You are not a mistake, an afterthought, or an obligation, you are part of God’s dynamic plan. So often our hopes and dreams are contingent on people rather than God. If Satan can cause you to rely on people rather than the purpose He has for your life, he can steal your joy today and cause you to go through this day feeling left out. Let me assure you that God wants to celebrate this Father’s Day and every other day with you, his CHILD! Enjoy this day if your father is still with you and has been a part of your life, but, don’t let Satan sway your mind into believing God feels the same way about you if your dad has no part in you life.
