Down through history there have been many movements, kingdoms, and thoughts that have come and gone. Today being politically correct is a movement that will eventually meet the same fate as those before it. There is a victorious building that still stands against persecution. The church of the living God has stood against all that has come against it. Nations and kingdoms have risen and fallen. The church of God has stood. The family of God will endure until the trumpets of Christ are blown. We are the church of the living God.

Our adversary was defeated when our Savior was hung on a cross. God’s word is truth. It cannot be watered down. We do not have to retreat from His word. Compromise is not needed when God is our King.

Matthew 16:13

Jesus comes into an area of hundreds of years of paganism. People traveled to worship the evil that was represented there. The evil of this perversion still exists in today’s society. The standard of righteousness has been lowered. The voice of the church needs to be heard. This sin can be washed away. This area worshipped the political leaders just as our world today puts much energy and emotion into political events. God’s church understands there is only one King. He sits in heaven at the right hand of God.

Jesus enters this area with His followers. He brings His church to an area that is drowning in the enemies lies and influence. Like His followers, we are part of something that cannot be defeated. Jesus asked the disciples to consider who people claim Him to be.

Matthew 16:14

The disciples named several prominent prophets, judges, and preachers. Jesus is above any and all others. He is THE king, first and last, conqueror, Lord of all, the Christ, son of God.

Matthew 16:15

Jesus didn’t dwell on who others say who He is. He wanted them to tell Him who they say He is. Who is the church saying He is? Are we just relegating Him to a way to Heaven? Are we professing with boldness that Jesus is the King of Kings?

Matthew 16:16

Peter called Him THE Christ, THE Son of THE living God. He and He alone is the Savior. There is no one else like Him. He is not one of. He is one and only.

Matthew 16:17

Jesus pronounced a blessing on Peter. Jesus blesses those who know who He is. Blessings mean happiness, contentment, peace, satisfaction. When life turns upside down, our satisfaction comes from knowing who Jesus is. It is a blessing to know who Jesus is. Our enemies will flee when we are convinced who Jesus is.

Matthew 16:18

What Peter professed is that of which Jesus said He would build His church. We should associate ourselves with Jesus alone. We belong to Him and we are His church. The church is those who have been called out of the world into the marvelous light of Jesus. There is no darkness or evil that will prevail against the church of Jesus. They will come against us but they will not prevail. We are the victorious children of God.

Matthew 16:19

The kingdom of darkness knows and the church needs to be confident in the access we have to the kingdom of Heaven. Jesus has given us full access to Him and the blessings of Heaven. We are not beggars because we possess the keys to a victorious building as His church.
