Raising Giant Killers | Jesus Raises Fearless Giant Killers Through Faith

Believers are challenged to stop running from spiritual giants and start raising a generation of bold, Spirit-filled giant killers who stand in the power of Jesus Christ and refuse to let the enemy silence the Church.

Raising a Generation of Giant Killers

The message of “Raising Giant Killers” begins with a burden over the condition of modern culture and the desperate need for the Church to raise a different kind of generation. While the world grows increasingly rebellious, confused, and hostile toward authority, the people of God are called to raise young men and women who are bold in faith and grounded in the Word of God. Drawing from Proverbs 28:1, the preacher declares that “the righteous are as bold as a lion,” and challenges the Church to invest in young believers who understand that if God gave victory to those before them, then He can give victory to them also.

The Enemy Always Invades Praise Territory

In 1 Samuel 17, the Philistines gathered in Judah’s territory, revealing how the enemy constantly seeks access into places that belong to God. Goliath represents more than a physical giant — he symbolizes every spiritual force that opposes the people of God. For forty days, Israel listened to the voice of fear morning and evening until their faith became broken and their courage disappeared. The sermon emphasizes that the devil’s greatest weapon is his mouth. Satan uses intimidation, lies, fear, and constant pressure to weaken believers spiritually. Yet Jesus Christ has already given His Church authority through the Word of God, and believers must answer the enemy with “It is written.”

David Refused to Run From the Giant

While Israel fled in fear, young David arrived with confidence in God. Though only a shepherd boy, David understood that victory does not come through human strength but through the Name of the Lord. The preacher highlights that David was already an experienced giant killer because God had prepared him privately before he ever fought publicly. When Goliath cursed David by false gods, David responded by declaring the authority of the Lord of Hosts. The giant fell because David trusted completely in God’s power instead of man’s ability.

Giants Keep Reproducing

Using 1 Chronicles 20:4–8 and 2 Samuel 21:15–22, the sermon reveals that Goliath was not the last giant. Other giants continued to rise against Israel, representing how spiritual warfare continues from generation to generation. Yet David’s mighty men learned from his example and began killing giants themselves. The same God Who gave victory yesterday still gives victory today, no matter how strange, intimidating, or powerful the enemy appears.

We Must Raise Giant Killers for Tomorrow

One of the sermon’s strongest moments comes when aging David grows weary in battle and nearly falls to another giant. At that moment, Abishai steps in and saves him. Why? Because David had raised another giant killer. The preacher passionately declares that the Church must disciple and equip the next generation because future battles will require future warriors. Through the power of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the unchanging Word of God, believers today can raise sons and daughters who refuse to bow to fear and will continue carrying the light of the Gospel until the Lord returns.

22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.

1 Samuel 17:1, 4, 8-11, 16, 20-24, 32, 43, 45 (NKJV)

17:1 Now the Philistines gathered their armies together to battle, and were gathered at Sochoh, which belongs to Judah; they encamped between Sochoh and Azekah, in Ephes Dammim.

17:4 And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

17:8-11 Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.” 10 And the Philistine said, “I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.” 11 When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.

17:16 And the Philistine drew near and presented himself forty days, morning and evening.

17:43 So the Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
17:45  Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

1 Chronicles 20:4-8

4 Now it happened afterward that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines, at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Sippai, who was one of the sons of the giant. And they were subdued.

5 Again there was war with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

6 Yet again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, with twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant. 7 So when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.

8 These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.

2 Samuel 21:15-17

15 When the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David and his servants with him went down and fought against the Philistines; and David grew faint. 16 Then Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose bronze spear was three hundred shekels, who was bearing a new sword, thought he could kill David. 17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, “You shall go out no more with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.”
