Turn Necessity into Opportunity for Praise
We must praise in the difficulties to show God we have the capacity hold the next blessing that is surely coming.
Sometimes you walk through times that you can’t see God working. But you can always find the word of God in all your situations. His word is always working. And because His word is always working you can find safety. God can command even the forces of nature. When you pit the word of God against your situation, the word of God will come out on top. Our God can not lie.
In 1 Kings 17:13-17, God sent Elijah to a widow who was in the last of the food she had for her and her son. She desired to care for the prophet but saw that she only had enough to eat once and wait to die of starvation. Acting in faith by the word from God through Elijah, they ate for many days. God was working for her and for Elijah when she couldn’t see an answer to her problem.
1 Kings 17:13-17
13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ” 15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah. 17 Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman who owned the house became sick. And his sickness was so serious that there was no breath left in him.
The Philippian letter is in reference to the giving of the church at Philippi to the needs of the apostle Paul. They were the only church who offered help and support to Paul. God shall supply all of your needs. Support, understanding, care, validation, love, acceptance, companionship, connectivity, self-worth. Not just money. When God worked through these people, Paul told them their gifts were pleasing to God and would add to their heavenly account.
Our praise, worship, sacrifice, obedience add to the sweet smell that pleases God. Through our faithfulness God will supply all our needs according to His riches. God says, ” I AM the supply. I control the supply and demand. I create the hunger and I supply the food. I AM the whatsoever things you desire. I AM the day of need and I am the day of supply. I’m the master of everything my word has spoken.”
Philippians 4:10-19
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 14 Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.
15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. 18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
God is the master of my need. He is Lord over my need. He is the creator of my question of why. He is the Lord of every temptation and of every want. He owns the thing you need the most.
Have you wondered why you can get the greatest blessing in a service and the next person be emotionless. Everybody doesn’t have the same capacity to hold the blessing. Growing up in God is about increasing the capacity to receive the blessing. Your heart has to be open to receive what God has to give you. God can pour out a blessing that you can’t hold. He desires to bless you more than you can contain. He can turn the greatest necessity into the greatest opportunity. We must praise in the difficulties to show God we can hold the next blessing that is surely coming. The word of God is the only thing that can grow you into the place of increasing your capacity for blessing.
