Society wants us to “let up” or soften our stand on the truth from God’s Word. God knows “where we live”. He knows our heart. He knows when we stand against the evils of this world and continue to serve Him.

The Seven Candlesticks-Be an Overcomer

Pergamus was a city of art and culture and had a great university of medicine and one of the largest libraries of all the world. There was a temple to Zeus on a high hill in Pergamus. The city was full of people that worshiped pagan gods at the many temples in the city. But within all this there was a church of 200 faithful Christians.

Revelation 2:12-17
12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.
16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Satan will go to any lengths to destroy Christ’s church. But according to history, the church thrives in persecution. The greatest growth in the church is post war years. America is strong and free because God wills. God wills is not or our benefit but so that we can minister and give and serve. God blesses the blesser.

Satan is not omnipresent or all-knowing. Satan cannot see our heart. He must ask God to lift His hedge of protection. He knows how to hurt us by listening to us tell our fears and worries.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

God has blinded those whose plan is harm we who love Him and serve Him. Demons cannot come against us on their own power. God wants us to see with our spiritual eyes with a ready mind recognizing those evil spirits that want to come against us.

John 10:14
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

These 200 church members began to “water down” their faith. This is a prevalent problem with Christians and preaching today. Sin must be called sin. God”s Word must be preached as it is. God’s Word says to him who overcomes, I will give the hidden manna. Manna was heaven’s food. God provided manna to the children of Israel in the desert for years. Manna IS the Lord Jesus Christ. 

A white stone was given to victorious Olympian athletes. On one side of the stone was written a private personal message. That stone secured admission into the celebration of all the victorious athletes. We can have a private, personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and admission into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:4
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

To him who overcomes, God gives the Lord Jesus Christ! Have you got Jesus?!
