The Pearl of Great Price The Chief Cornerstone
If we will be broken on that cornerstone, the doors of mercy will be open to us. If we will stir ourselves and realize the value of the pearl of great price, immeasurable joy is ours.
The Pearl of Great Price The Chief Cornerstone
Matthew 13:44-46
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
If we gain our life we lose it and if we lose our life we gain it. These rich men and merchants put value on the things of the world. They did not value the treasures of eternity.
Ephesians 2:19-20
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;
The chief cornerstone has never failed us.
Luke 20:17-18
17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Chief engineers (teachers and priests) had rejected the chief cornerstone (Jesus). These verses tell us to fall upon this stone and be spiritually broken under the mighty hand of God. The more you find in Him the more you want to lose yourself. He can give unspeakable joy. We must overcome pride of life and lust of the flesh and be broken in Him.
We are called to be salt. If we don’t use our gifts they become stale. The Holy Spirit needs us to “shake up our salt” and put it to use.
The story of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 2 tells of the king’s demands to interpret his dream. The magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers acknowledged that their gods were nonliving and could not accomplish what he asked. They knew only the living God could interpret the king’s dream. Daniel sought God and asked Him to reveal His message for the king to him. When God answered his prayer, Daniel stopped to worship Him. The dream told of the judgement of God that will come.
We came into this world searching and in need of what was lost through Adam. We need the grace of God in our lives. If we will be broken on that cornerstone, the doors of mercy will be open to us. If we will stir ourselves and realize the value of the pearl of great price, immeasurable joy is ours. We have a badge glory that signifies our adoption into His priesthood that allows us into His presence.
