We live in a world where getting by is never enough. To prove we have made real progress and have been successful, we must have more than some one else has obtained. The truth is that a person can never obtain enough things and money to make them truly prosperous. Real prosperity requires so much more than material things and wealth. Our verse today speaks of where real prosperity is found in this life. (3 John 1:2-4 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3. It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. 4. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.) When we are strong and physically healthy, we experience only partial success. True prosperity includes peace of mind and contentment. When our souls prosper, we flourish on the inside. We are at peace; we are full of joy; we live with a sense of purpose; we are growing spiritually; and we have strong, loving relationships with others. Jesus said that He came so we could have and enjoy life in abundance and to full. God is the God of progress. God is the God of real success.
