OVERCOMING ADVERSITY!!

There is nothing more enjoyable to me than to watch children overcome the challenges set before them. I remember one Christmas we gave our youngest granddaughter a new bike and as usual we purchased one that she can grow into throughout the next year. I was amazed at the willpower and ability to overcome the bigness of her challenge and ride the bicycle. In five minutes she had learned how to get started and even conquered the hand brakes for the first time. All she needed was a little assistance from an adult who had faced and overcome that challenge before. I thought as I read my devotion this morning that we could learn a lesson from yesterday’s victories. We have someone who gives us that same ability to be an overcomer. (Psalm 91:2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.) At some point in our lives we have all felt like we were facing something bigger than us. We all know the feeling of being in over our heads. At those times, we are faced with different emotions. One emotion is to panic and feel like we will never win and the other is the desire to overcome our obstacle. As I Child of God we soon realize that we are not in control and the ability to overcome does not lie within our own strength. We come to know that God is in control and with Him all things are possible. We are able to “Hop on” and ride because God gives us the victory over our enemies. God is our refuge, our fortress, our strength, our encourager. If you are facing challenges bigger than you, you can overcome them. Put your trust in God. Pastor Don
