Our Burden Bearing Jesus
Jesus loves us and will carry our burden of sins. At His death and resurrection He bore and lifted away all our transgressions.
When we get to heaven we will all be singing praises to God. The Bible says we will sing a new song and reign with Him as kings and priests. Furthermore, we are children of the king and are called a royal priesthood. We’ve been called out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
Being members of the priesthood of heaven means we have access to God. There was a time when everyone had to have a representative to carry their sacrifice of sin into the throne room of God to receive forgiveness. This process atoned or covered sins. Jesus came to not cover but take away the sins of the world. He became our burden bearing Jesus.
The Passover was celebrated every year by the Jews. Jesus, as a good Jew, traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. Jesus told the disciples what was going to happen while they were there.
Matthew 20:17:19
17 Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 and deliver Him to the Gentiles tomock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.”
Also on this trip into Jerusalem, two blind men cried out for Jesus to heal them. The Bible says Jesus stopped and stood still. Jesus called the blind men to Him and asked what they wanted from Him. They asked for sight and immediately they could see. When we call out to Jesus, He hears us immediately.
Jesus next stopped at Bethany where His friends Lazarus, Mary and Martha lived. Lazarus had died 3 days earlier. Mary and Martha thought it was too late and Jesus had missed healing Lazarus. Jesus proclaimed that He was the resurrection and called Lazarus from the tomb.
John 11:25
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
God’s power is as fresh today as it was then. He is our burden bearer. We can cast all our cares and despair and sorrows on Him. Jesus loves us and will carry our burden of sins. At His death and resurrection He bore and lifted away all our transgressions.
Isaiah 53:5
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
