Jesus Only is My Refuge and Rock
We are all in differing stages of growth in our faith. God’s will is that we are always moving forward and growing stronger in our faith and meeting trials. He only is our rock.
At one point, King David’s own son sought to kill him. David’s soul was disquieted. His faith was shaken. He wrestled with peace. He needed God to shelter him from worry and be his rock.
David at his highest and his lowest
David had an anointing of God unlike no other. Conversely, he had challenges like no other. Nobody could praise and worship and form words of praise like David. However, he sinned and fell to depths of despondency that caused him to grieve deeply.
At one time, David found himself in a place of attack from his own people and his own family. He reached out to God as his only defense and support. He called upon God as his rock and salvation from his attackers and accusers.
Bowing wall and tottering fence
Satan knows when we are at our weakest. He knows our weaknesses and what will distract us from our Rock. We must build a defense of faith that satan cannot break. We can make daily choices to walk and talk with God that will protect us from attacks of this world. Put all your faith and expectations in God. Trust Him to be your salvation and defense.
Psalm 62:1-6
Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.
3 How long will you attack a man?
You shall be slain, all of you,
Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
4 They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly. Selah
5 My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
