We watch a powerful hurricane destroy part of one the coastal areas and we listen to interviews with people who have lost everything they have worked to build. Even with the advanced warning there was nothing they could do to prevent the storm from destroying their possessions. In a recent hurricane in Florida, there was one home that was build with the expectation of storms coming. The home was left undamaged and in perfect shape. It was built to withstand 250 mph winds and the engineering and extra construction cost was worth it. The people in that area who are rebuilding their damaged homes have a tremendous example to follow. They also can be restored to double the storm capacity they will ever need. (Zechariah 9:12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.) Hope is a powerful force that will bring you through the storms of life and cause you to want to rebuild your life stronger than it has ever been. Our hope is in our God, so we don’t even have to see a tangible reason to believe there will be a change to hope. Hope is a positive expectation of something good happening for us. We should go through today saying, Something good is going to happen to me today. God is going to shower me with His goodness today. Today may be the day of my breakthrough. Like the victims of the hurricane, all you may see around you is gloom, doom, and destruction, but, there is one example of what it takes to have hope.
