DON’T COMPLAIN!! DO IT!!
I remembered this event this morning and I would like to share it with you. A couple years ago, I was to meet my son-in-law in Greenville, Alabama to swap vehicles, then I was returning to UAB hospital in Birmingham to visit a newborn baby who was scheduled to have open heart surgery. When I arrived at our meeting place, I was sitting at the gas pump filling the vehicle up when I was approached by a lady requesting help pumping up a tire. I walked over and an elderly man, with his family in a van, was trying to pump up a flat tire. I assisted him, only to find the tire had a hole in the sidewall and would have to be replaced. I asked if he had a spare and it was flat also. The elderly man asked if I would put the tire in my truck and run it down and have it replaced. He handed me way more money than it would cost to buy a tire. He was handicapped, but I asked if he would ride with me and show me where to go. After about an hour, we were able to get a tire and on the way back to the van, the man asked me how much do I owe you? Isn’t it a shame that we feel we have to pay everyone who lends us a helping hand. I told him he didn’t owe me anything, I was just glad God put us in the right place to help him out today. I put it back on their van and they were able to continue their journey. (Philippians 2:14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing.) I could have found many excuses not to help the family out. I got the clothes I was wearing dirty changing the tire and had to put on a pair of golf shorts to make my hospital visit. I ran about 1hr and 45 minutes late returning to Birmingham because of helping out this family. The traffic was horrible coming back up I-65 into Birmingham and Satan kept reminding me that I would have already been there if I hadn’t spent so much time helping out the family. I kept reminding Satan that everything was going to work out fine, and it did. The next time you have an opportunity to help someone out, do it. Don’t complain, argue, or grumble just do it. God is the one who gave us the knowledge and the ability to help others, use it willingly. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
