Built To Stand | Put On The Whole Armor of God
Put on the whole armor of God, stand firm in spiritual warfare, and refuse defeat by drawing strength from the power and might of the Lord—so stand up today and keep standing.
- God did not design believers to fail, but to overcome and stand firm
- Strength comes from being in the Lord, not from self-effort
- Spiritual warfare is real and requires spiritual preparation
- The whole armor of God is essential—no piece can be left off
- The real enemy is not people, but spiritual powers of darkness
- The “evil day” will come, but believers are equipped to withstand it
- Standing is not passive—it is resisting, opposing, and pushing back
- Truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer keep us standing
- After doing all, the command remains: stand therefore
You Are Designed by God to Stand
Built to Stand begins with a powerful truth: God is not a flawed manufacturer. While earthly systems often fail under pressure, the Creator of heaven and earth has designed His people to endure. According to Ephesians 6:10–11, believers are commanded to be strong—not in themselves—but in the Lord and in the power of His might. When pressure comes, it reveals not weakness, but the strength God has already placed within His people.
Knowing the Enemy and the Battle
Spiritual warfare is not imaginary, symbolic, or optional. Scripture makes it clear that believers wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness. The fight is real, organized, and intentional. Satan’s greatest strategy is deception—convincing people he doesn’t exist or distracting believers into fighting the wrong battles. Understanding who the enemy is allows the church to prepare correctly and stand effectively.
The Whole Armor of God Is Not Optional
Paul repeatedly emphasizes the necessity of the whole armor of God. Every piece matters because the enemy looks for exposed areas. Truth provides balance. Righteousness guards the heart. The gospel prepares the feet to stand on a firm foundation. Faith extinguishes every fiery dart. Salvation protects the mind. The Word of God becomes an offensive weapon, cutting through lies and darkness. This armor is God-provided, but believer-activated—it must be put on daily.
Standing Through the Evil Day
Every believer will face an “evil day”—a moment of intense pressure, temptation, discouragement, or spiritual attack. In those moments, the command of Scripture is not retreat, escape, or surrender. The command is clear: having done all, to stand. When prayers have been prayed, tears have been shed, and strength feels exhausted, God’s instruction remains the same—keep standing.
Prayer Makes the Armor Effective
The armor of God is empowered through prayer. Praying always, in the Spirit, keeps believers connected to the strength of heaven. Prayer shifts the battle, strengthens the saints, and brings divine reinforcement. Standing believers who pray are not merely surviving—they are overcoming.
Built to Stand is not just encouragement—it is a divine reminder: God has equipped His church to endure, resist, and ultimately stand victorious.
Ephesians 6:10-18
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
