Be Still and Know
We know that God is our refuge, but there are times we question where God is. Be still and know that He IS God.
We are living under Adam’s sin and the curse of his sin. We have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, but no matter your location, race, age we are living in a world where bad things happen to good people. It’s said that if it is over my head, it is under His feet. Things we trusted would always be can change in an instant. Your whole life, your habits, and everything you’ve known become foreign. We know that God is our refuge, but there are times we question where God is.
Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
From the city of God flow forgiveness, redemption, goodness, calm, peace, and His glory. When we go to Him we will experience His power. Some choose to only go about ankle deep, some a little more. Everybody needs to go deeper into the river of God. In the deeper waters with God is where you can experience Him in His fullness. When we come to God’s house with the burdens of our life we can feel His peace. Even when our waters are troubled and stirred God is in the midst of his people and your troubles. Where God is in the midst He is in control. All things fall under His power. God will take what was meant to destroy you and turn it to good.
Psalm 46:4-5
There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
We can purpose in our hearts that God will work this out for His good. When we wait on Him, He will come to our rescue. His call will be fulfilled. His word will be fulfilled. God instructs us to rest and relax and be confident that He will keep what you have committed to Him, what you have prayed to Him about.
Psalm 46:6-7
The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the god of Jacob is our refuge.
God’s answer isn’t always yes, but His answer is the one that will cease the wars in our life. We can be still and know that God will be exalted. He is with us and is our refuge.
Psalm 46:8-11
Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He taketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breath the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burnt the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
The world is looking for a church that will dare to do what they are supposed to do and stand in the faith of who God is when all the world around us seems to be falling apart.
