BE A GOOD SERVANT!!
I don’t know of an occupation that determines whether or not you have an enjoyable experience more than the person who serves you. Whether it is in a restaurant, a department store, a grocery store, or even a hospital, we grade the facility based on the person who is serving us. Waiter or waitress is one position that it only takes one mistake to cause a whole group to pass poor judgment upon the store they represent. We are so quick to judge the character of a person who serves us based on the service we receive. Often, the service we receive is out of the hands of the one serving us and is the result of the one who is preparing the order. Bottom line, being a servant to other people definitely requires all of us to be careful how we speak and react to things that happen. We can encourage or discourage each other with the smallest words or actions. Serving others requires us to put our self-centeredness aside and causes us to realize just how much we need one another. (Galatians 5:13-14 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”) God’s way of allowing us to live a life of fulfillment was to require us to be a servant to others. We find out by helping others that we ourselves receive help. We grow together. Iron sharpens iron. So, today, let’s put on our name tags and represent our Lord and Savior with our best effort. We won’t please everyone, but we can make a difference in someone’s life today. May I take your order? Pastor Don
