I remember as children how we were always wishing our lives away. We couldn’t wait to get 10, then 16, 18, 21 etc. We were not satisfied to be where we were in life, we wanted to get older and more mature. God wants us to make those same decisions in growing in Christ. (Ephesians 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body in him who is the head, that is, Christ.) God wants you to grow up. We are not meant to remain as children. Spiritual growth is not automatic; it takes an intentional commitment. You must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort to grow, and persist in growing. Discipleship is a fancy word for spiritual growth; it’s the process of becoming like Christ. And it always begins with a decision. When the first disciples chose to follow Jesus, they didn’t understand all the implications of their decision. They simply responded to Jesus’ invitation. They decided to follow him. That’s all you need to get started too: Decide today to become a disciple. You choose to begin to grow into what God wants you to become for His glory. Pastor Don [image: image.png]
